The PE Department at Queen’s Gate School provides Olympic and Common-wealth level coaching, first-class facilities and generous time allocation to PE, making sport one of our great strengths.
Under the guidance of our expert Director of Sport, Queen’s Gate School runs a complete programme of sport and our pupils have daily exercise as well as multiple opportunities to compete against other schools in one-off fixtures or larger tournaments. Defying expectations that as a central London school our sport may not be such a strength, our pupils perform exceptionally highly in local and national competitions, and we have a number of girls who have achieved the accolade of representing their country. We also offer a Fencing Academy and a Tennis Academy, alongside a full weekly timetable of Sports Club.
All pupils are involved in sport where possible, in any capacity we can get them involved in, whether it be taking part as a performer, an official or as an assistant coach. In addition to building personal fitness, the emphasis is on acquisition of skills, enjoyment, developing self-confidence, leadership skills and building respect for others through teamwork.
Onsite we enjoy a dedicated gym that features a climbing wall and a range of equipment to allow us to offer tuition and clubs in disciplines as diverse as Yoga, Karate, Indoor Rowing and Fencing, the latter for which we are particularly well known. In addition, we take full advantage of the array of outstanding facilities and plentiful green space within our surrounding area. These include Fulham Pools, Imperial College pool and sports hall, Kensington Leisure Centre, Battersea Park netball and tennis courts and Millennium Arena, Retrofit, Hyde Park and Queen’s Gate Gardens.

As well as external competitions, House sports form a key part of our calendar, with our girls revelling in the teamship and rivalry. Sports Day, the Swimming Gala and Cross Country are the three top events each year, along with other inter-house sporting fixtures such as hockey, cricket, netball, dance, tag rugby, gymnastics and volleyball.
Queen’s Gate offers opportunities for all pupils to attend an annual ski trip, the destination for which rotates between Europe and North America and sports tours being another part of our provision.
